Places to visit:
Alibaug is known for its beaches in and around it. Alibaug beach is the main beach of the region and visited by many tourists. The beach has the blackest sand of the region. You also get to see the glimpse of the Kolaba fort from here.
Located at just 20 km of Alibaug, Mandwa Beach is another tourist place. Kihim beach and Versolla Beaches are other beaches to be seen here. Another place of interest is Khanderi Fort. It is just 3-4 km inside the sea from Thai beach.
Built by Shivaji Maharaj, the Kolaba Fort is located just 2km inside the sea. The fort is 300 year old and has sweet water well inside. Another forth worth visiting is Undheri Fort, built by Siddi Qasam in 1680. Alibaug also has some important temples including Kanakeshwar Devsthan temple. It is a temple of lord Shiva, one of the Hindu Gods and is just 13 km away from the town. Rewas jetty is famous for Mumbai launch service. It is just 6 km of Kihim.
How to reach:-
Many state run and private luxury buses connect the city to Mumbai and Goa and many other cities of the state and the country.
Nearest railway station is Pen which is connected to Khapoli. Alibaug has its jetty located near the Mandawa. From Mandwa, ferry services are available to the Gateway of India, Mumbai. Most of the tourists prefer to drive from Mumbai, Pune or Goa to Alibaug.
