Ambarnath is an industrial town of Thane district in the State of Maharashtra. Ambarnath is very close to Mumbai (54kms). It is on the way to Pune by train. The township is divided into two parts: as East and West. Western part is an industrial hub. Ambarnath is forming into a residential complex for the Mumbaikars due to the congestion in the Mumbai city. The city hosts chemical factories the most. WIMCO (matchstick company) has its base in Ambarnath. The Government has set up an ordinance factory in Ambarnath. East Ambarnath is known for the largest housing complex in the entire Asia known as the Suryodaya Housing Society. Ambarnath is attracting traders and investors. Many traders have their warehouses set up in this township. East Ambarnath has an industrial area in which many big companies have established their factories. Places to see Ambarnath is famous for a Shiv temple constructed in the tenth century. The name of the deity is ‘Amareshwar’ and the city got its name from that. It is an old Shiv temple in stone known for Hemadpanth style of architecture. There is a Hanuman and Shani temple in the Sai section of the city. You can reach Ambarnath via Mumbai.
