Baramati is a small municipal council in the district of Pune in Maharashtra, India. It is located about 100 Kms. from Pune. The city is also connected by railways to Pune. It has a landing strip facility and at present has a flying club. Soon a domestic airport may come up in the city. The city experiences scorching summers from March to May and dry and cold winters from November to February. The temperature usually lies between min.10 degrees in winters to Max. 40 degrees in summers. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people of baramati. The main crop grown here are Sugarcane, grapes and cotton. The produce here is even exported to Middle Eastern countries and Europe. Baramati is the political source of command of Maharashtra state. Baramati is also an industrialized town with the inclusion of industries like steel processing to wine making. A three wheeler plant of piaggio is based here. A two wheeler plant is also coming up in the town.
