Bhubaneshwar is the capital of eastern state of India Orissa. It has an old history since 2NdBC. it has about 600 temples and hence it is known as Temple City of India, It is the gateway city to the holy Dham of Jagganath Puri, world famous Konark temple is also covered from here. Bhuneshwar is the largest city of Orissa and is known for its superb architectural and sculptural legacy. It is the center for financial and spiritual importance in the area. Along with Chandigarh and Jabalpur, Bhuneshwar was one of the earliest planned cities of India. It is one of the greenest and cleanest cities. In the year 1948 after India’s independence Cuttack was replaced by Bhuneshwar as the capital of Orissa. Mostly Cuttack and Bhuneshwar are referred as the Twin Cities of Orissa. In recent years Bhuneshwar has immerged as an upcoming IT hub of the region, also many metal processing units have made Bhuneshwar a fast rising city of India.
The history of bhuneshwar can be divided into two parts as one more than 2000 years old part and second modern part since 1948. The weather of bhuneshwar is moderate with temperatures ranging from 12 degrees in winter to about 45 degrees in summers. The average rainfall is about 150 cm in a year Bhuneshwar was basically designed to be a residential city to house government employees and thus had a few industrial houses except public sector enterprises. Due to liberalization of industrial sector by the Orissa government in 1990 the sudden upsurge in the development took place especially in IT sector. The real estate market is in boom these days. There is noteworthy growth in retail sector marketing too with lots of retail chain coming up in the city. Players like Reliance, Vishal Mega Mart, Big Bazaar, Pantaloon etc are already there, another mega mall ‘Forum’ with 550,000 Sq. Ft. constructed area is coming up in Bhuneshwar. There is a tremendous growth in education sector also, especially there are many engineering colleges in the city, total 105 till 2011 and still the figures are on the raise. The city has many coaching classes.
Transportation in Bhuneshwar is organized with state road transport operating locally as well as intercity and interstate busses. Another player dream team transport also operates local busses.
