Bokaro Steel City is the headquarters of Bokaro district in Jharkhand. The city is an industrial town housing a public sector steel plant.
A small village in the Chota Nagpur jungles was transformed into a planned city. The city gets prominence due to the Bokaro Steel Limited Company. The steel plant was initiated by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
The city is divided into various sectors. It is a major town in the surrounding area providing good educational facilities to aspiring students. Mostly technical education is provided.
Geographically, the city is surrounded by hills such as Parasnath Hills and Satanpur Hillocks. Two rivers flow on the southern side of the city.
The city hosts a blend of Bengali, Santhali, Magadhi, and Bhojpuri cultures.
SAIL, Electrosteel Castings Limited, Bokaro Jaypee Cement Limited, Bokaro Power Supply Co Pvt Ltd and BIADA are the major industrial companies of the town. The city is urbanized by incorporating the mall culture.

Visitors who would like to explore some tourist attractions in and around the city may make a trip to Garga Dam which is located about 12 km from the city.
Jain devotees come may like to visit the Parasnath Hills. Parasnath Hills are pilgrimage trips for Jain devotees since they consider that on these hills the Teerthankaras attained salvation.
About 60 km away, a place called Rajrappa attracts tourists. There is a temple on the confluence of two rivers. You can visit a Biological Park situated in the city.
How to Reach:
You can reach the city by road and railways. It is well connected to Kolkata, Coimbatore, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderabad, In fact major cities of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, Andhra Pradehs, Kerala and Tamil Nadu are connected to this city by train.
It would not be a trouble reaching the city by road. However, air travelers may have to take a taxi from the airport at Ranchi.
