Ghaziabad is a planned industrial city located in Uttar Pradesh State. The city is quite closer to Delhi, away by just 19 km and therefore it comes under the zone of Delhi Satellite area. The film city Noida is just a few kilometers away from this city. Ghaziabad city is the headquarters of the Ghaziabad district. The Hindon River which flows through the city has created two divisions as west and east. The city lies between the Ganga and the Yamuna River.
Earlier it was part of the Meerut district. The city was named after Ghazi-ud-din who founded the town Ghaziauddin Nagar. In 1976 it was formed into an independent district. It is called the gateway of U.P. The city is said to be a hub of organized crime and gang wars.
