Hassan city is the district headquarters of Hassan district in Karnataka state of India. It is about 190 Kms from Bangalore the capital city and 110 Kms from Mysore. The city is named after the Goddess Haasanamba who is the presiding deity of the town. The city is famous for its Master control Facility of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Belur (40 Kms) and Halebidu (15 Kms) are two tourist destination in Karnataka state which are very close to Hassan. Shravanabelagola one of the important Jain pilgrim center is in Hassan district itself. The climate in Hassan is Moderate type.
How to reach: Hassan can be reached by Trains or roads. Not on the main railway route trains from Hassan includes a passanger train which connects it to Bangalore and Mangalore. There are regular state run and private busses to various destinations within the state of Karnataka and outside it also. The nearest airports are Bangalore ( 120Kms) and Mysore (115Kms).
