Jalna is a district of Indian state of Maharashtra. Jalna town is the head quarter of the district. It is situated in Marathwada region of the state. Jalna fall in Aurangabad administrative division of the state. It was ealier under the rule of Hyderabad’s Nizam. Jalna is mainly known for Jamb village situated in the district. The village is the birth place of Samarth Ramdas Swami. Marathi is the native language of the region and Hindi is also widely spoken. Temperature of Jalna ranges from 33 to 43 c in summer and from 9 to 24c in winter. The best time to visit Jalna is from October to February.
How to get there: Rail and road connect the city to other parts of the state and the country. Jalna railway station is well connected to Aurangabad, Nasik, Parbhani, Nanded, Mumbai and other cities and towns of the state and the country. Many state run buses and other private vehicles like cars, luxury buses etc are available from Aurangabad, Pune and other many cities and towns of the state. Nearest airport is Chikalthana Airport at Aurangabad which is about 50 km away from Jalna. The airport is well linked by several domestic flights to Mumbai and other major cities of the state and the country.
Places to visit: Jalna houses many places worth visiting in and around it. Matsyodri Temple is considered one of the oldest temples in the region. A fair is organized at the temple every year in the month of October. Jalna also houses Khandoba Temple built by famous queen Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century. Shri Datta Ashram in Jalna is another place of religious significance. Jalna fort is historical important place. The fort is now known as Mastgad. Moti Talab is another place of interest in Jalna. The Talab was built by Jamshed Khan and is located in the west of the town. Built by Jamshed Khan in 1557, Jumma Masjid in Jalna is one of the oldest religious places. Jamshed Khan also built Hammam, a bath. It is interesting place to visit. Sarai Jalana, Dargah of zacha and Bhacha, Dargah of Jan Alla Shah are other religious places to be seen here.
