Latur is a city and place of district as well in Indian state of Maharashtra. It is known for its food- grain trade, oil-seed mills, quality of education and administration. It also houses the biggest trading center of Soybean in India. It is located near the boundary of the state of Karnataka. Marathi is the widely spoken language while Hindi is also spoken by some. Summer is very scorching with its temperature rising up to 45 c while winter provides pleasant weather. Best time to visit is from October to February.

Several state run buses and other private vehicles like cars and luxury buses are connect it to Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Aurangabad and other cities and towns of the state and the country. Places of interest: There are many places worth visiting in and around the city of Latur. Siddheshwar temple is beautiful temple of Latur. It was built by King Tamradwaj. The temple is situated just 2 km from the city. Ganj Golai is the famous place of the city. It is in the center of the city connected by as many as 16 roads. Each of these roads has its own market. Main building of the Ganj Golai is a two storied building in circular shape and it houses temple of Goddess Ambabai. This famous circular structure was built in 1917. Kharosa Caves is another place of interest you can visit near Latur. It is just 45 m away from it and houses beautiful sculptures of Shiv-Parvati, Narsinha, Kartikeya etc. These caves are believed to be built in 6th century. Udgir Fort is yet another place of historical significance near Latur. The fort has been witness to the history of the war between Nizam and Maratha in 1761 in which Maratha beat Nizam and consequently the treaty of Udgir fort was signed between them. Surat Shahavali Darga, Ashtvinayak Temple, Hattibet Devrajan, Kasarshirshi, Wadval Nagnath hill and Ausa are some of the many other places of interest to be seen in and around the city of Latur.
