Mcleodganj is a suburban settlement near Dharmshala located in the Kangra district of the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. Mcleodgang is located on the Dhauladhar ranges of Himalaya Mountains. Hanuman Ka Tibba is the highest peak of the Dhauladhar range (5650 meters high) which acts as a back drop for the town of Mcleodgang. There is a large population of Tibetan refugees in the town because it is in Exile Tibetan Government headquarters. Nearest airport to Mcleodgang is Gagal airport located about 15Kms. South of Dharamshala. Nearest rail head is Kangra and Nagrota (about 20 Kms. South of Dharamshala) however nearest broad-gauge railhead is Pathankot about 85 Kms away. Tourism is a main business here but many people visit Mcleodgang for studying Tibetan and Buddhist culture, crafts etc. The important Buddhist sites in and around Mcleodgang are Tsuglagkhang the Dalai Lama?s Temple, Namgyal Manastery, Nechung Manastery, Naam Art gallery, Peak Art Gallery , Dal Lake, Chinmaya Tapovan, Osho Nisarga and Chamunda. Located in the main market Mcleodgang Tea House is a tea house worth visiting, running since 1860 its tea is famous the world over. The center officially serves custom made tea at Rashpati Bhavan the Indian President?s residence, The Buckingham Palace, The Air Force One Station.
