Nellore, Andhra Pradesh Travel Guide

Situated on the eastern coastline of Andhra Pradesh, the city of Nellore, acts as the administrative headquarters of Sri Potti Ramulu Nellore district. It was known as Vikrama Simhapuri in the ancient times.

If you are in Nellore for a weekend, then you can spend time on the beaches of Myapadu and Koduru. If you like visiting temples, visit Sri Talpagiri Ranganatha swamy temple. The temple is situated at about 5km away from the city. It is an ancient temple that was built about 600 years back. It is built on the banks of River Penneru. People come to see the beautiful structure of this temple.

Another temple called Sri Kodanda Swamy Temple is located in Buchireddipalem city near Nellore. The temple celebrates Brahmotsavam evry year during March and April.

Temples are the main attractions in this city. There is another temple which is located on the banks of River Penneru that is at Jonnawada. These temples are well connected by local buses. Narasimha Konda and Penchalakona are other temples which are quite popular.

The city gets its revenue from marine products, agriculture and gold jewelry. Prawns are cultivated in the district. Goldsmiths of this city are well trained in making handmade jewelry studded with precious stones.
