Pune is the second largest city of Maharashtra, India. It is the cultural capital of Maharashtra. The local people are maharashtrians they speak Marathi language. It is an industrial town having industrial estates as Pimpri Chinchwad, Koregaon & more. It houses many Indian national and multinational companies. Apart from this Pune is the biggest educational center in India, It is best known as an academy town, it is even known as Oxford of the East. There are colleges of every branch of study. Pune has a wonderful history of almost 1500 hundred years.
The climate of pune is pleasant throughout the year. Though the summer temperatures can rise up to 40 degrees plus, the nights are cooler. In rainy season, it rains heavily sometimes, but generally the period is bearable. Winter is almost moderate November being the most pleasant month. The population of Pune according to 2010 Census of India is approximately 55 Lacs. The people here are mostly Hindus. Though there are many Churches, Gurudwaras, Masjids, Buddhist viharas and Jain temples in the city. Ten Day Ganesh festival is celebrated every year when idols of lord Ganesh is installed in public places with lots of decorations and festivities everywhere. A lot of cultural programs are held all over the city. This public worship of Ganesh was started by Bal Gangadhar Tilak during India's struggle for independence from the british.
Center of Osho here attracts about 2 lacs visitors every year. International Society for Krishna Conciseness (ISKCON) movement also has a temple here in the cantonment area. The temple has Sri Sri Radha Kunjbihari as the presiding deities. The ISKCON movement is expanding now and a second temple built at Nigdi. There are many more centers of ISKCON in Pune now. The biggest one is coming up as new vedic Cultural Center at Katraj-Kondhwa bypass road in Pune. It will be a Spiritual Educational and Architectural Landmark of Pune. It will be spreading the message of divine Love and Fraternity from the Vedic texts of Ancient India.In recent years
Pune has become a destination of choice for IT industries Infosys, Persistent Systema, Geometric Limited, Symphony Services, Wipro, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra and Microsoft are some of the players present here. Otherwise Pune has always been an automotive manufacturing hub, all sectors of automotive industry is represented here from two wheelers and autorikshaws to cars, tractors, tempos, excavators and trucks. The companies mainly are Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Mercedes Benz, Force Motors, Kinetic Motors, Volkswagen, Fiat etc.
Pune is nicely connected to rest of India by Rail, Roads and Air. There are some international flights also.
