Sariska Tiger Reserve situated in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, India is a National Park and wild life reserve forest spread over an area of about 900 Sq. Kms. The Sariska Reserve forest mostly has scrubs and thorny vegetations and is mostly dry deciduous forest. It lays about 100 Kms from Jaipur and 200 Kms from Delhi. The area of Sariska is rich in mineral resources such as copper. Despite the ban by the Supreme Court, Marble mining in this area still continues. The wild life in Sariska reserve are Bengal Tiger, Jungle Cat, Leopard, Caracal, golden jackal, Sambhar, wild boar and many. There are many historical sites within the Forest area, like Kankwadi fort, Pundupol hills (Pandavs of Mahabharata times are supposed to have used it as their retreat) and Hanumanji temple on it, Nilkanth temples, and Tal briksh (famous for its warm water spring) all these pose a threat to the wildlife of the forest, as the movements of tourist specially their vehicles disturb the wild life. In the year 2004 Tiger population was found to be eliminated from the forest, later Two Tigers and Three Tigresses were relocated here from Ranthambore sanctuary. Now the actual tiger count was 5 till November 2011. A strict ban on poaching has been implemented in the area also tigers are being tracked via satellite.
