Shirdi is a small town in the Ratha Taluka of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, India. Shirdi is about 300 Km. on the eastern side of western sea shore of India, Mumbai. It lies about 80 Km away from the district headquarters of Ahmednagar on national Highway No.10. It is famous for its Guru of 19Th century Shirdi Sai Baba. It can be reached easily by road from nearest Rail head Manmad, which is about 80 Km. from Shirdi. Manmad is a major railway crossing having trains connections to East, West, North and Southern cities of India. Recently a railway station Sainagar Shirdi has been developed since 2009; it is only 2 Kms from the main Sai Baba temple.
Sainagar Shirdi has direct trains from Chennai (Tamil Nadu State), Mumbai (Maharashtra State) and Visakhapatnam Via. Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh state). Shirdi can be easily reached from the adjoining stations as Kopergaon (15 Kms), Daund (200 Km), Nasik (120 Km), Ahmednagar (80 Km) and Aurangabad (115 Km). There are plans to build an Airport at Shirdi which will be located at Kopargaon which is 15 Km from Shirdi construction work of the airport has already commenced. Presently Shirdi Sai Baba Trust owns a Helipad which is available for landing with prior permission.
Shani Shingnapur can be visited from Shirdi which is a holy place famous for its Shani Dev Temple. A 25 acre Sai Garden is coming up near Sai Baba Temple where life of Sai Baba will be shown by laser show. Shirdi authorities and government of Maharastra are gearing up for the centenary celebration of Sai Baba Samadhi taking event which is coming up in the year 2018.
