Thirumanancheri a village in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu state in India. The town is located near Cauvery River. The name Thiru Manam = marriage and cheri = village therefore the name Thirumanancheri means the place where marriage had taken place. The marriage of lord Shiva was solemnized here hence the Name. The nearest railway station to thirumanancheri is Kuttalam near to Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai which is also the nearest railway junction. Thirumanancheri Temple is one of the most important Temples of lord Shiva. This famous temple is visited by the devotees who need help to overcome the obstacles in marriage. A special pooja is performed for getting a nice partner. After the marriage the couple has to visit the temple again to return the Prasatham in the temple pound. The temple is open in the morning from 6.00 am to 12 Noon and in the evening from 3pm till 8pm.
