Wardha district lies in the Vidharba region of Maharashtra state of India. Wardha derives its name from the Wardha River which flows in its three directions North, South and West Directions. The town is prominent Cotton trading center of the region, and also has importance of Gandhi era attached to it. After leaving Sabarmati Ashram of Gujrat Mathma Ghandhi shifted in Sewagram Ashram in 1936 and stayed here till his death in 1948. Vinobha Bhave the contemporary of Mahatma Ghandhi also lived here at Paramdham Ashram, Bhoodan movement was started from here; also ?Bhgarat Chhodo Andolan? started from here. Prominently placed on the Mumbai Kolkata railway route near Nagpur, Wardha is easily reachable by railway, roads and Air. Nagpur is the nearest Airport (50 Kms).
