Yavatmal is a city in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is the head town of the district of the same name Yavatmal district. It comes under Amravati division, one of the six administrative divisions of the state. It is the leading center in cotton production and hence is known as cotton city. Yavatmal is regarded as one of the tribal district of the state. Marathi is the widely spoken language in the region. There are some interesting places to be seen in and around Yavatmal city. It is situated in Pandarkawada tahsil of the district. Borgaon Dam and Jamwadi are major picnic spots in Yavatmal district.
October to February is the best time to visit Yavatmal. Summer is best avoided as the temperature there is very scorching. Yavatmal is well connected by rail and road to other parts of the state and country. Yavatmal railway station is linked to Pune, Nagpur and many other cities of the state and the country. Dr. Babasheb Ambedkar International Airport of Nagpur serves it as the nearest airbase and is well linked to other major cities of India.
